Back to school for new awards in Lanarkshire
Three contracts have been awarded to Raynesway Construction as part of South Lanarkshire Council’s Primary Schools Modernisation programme.

The first award from Bovis Lend Lease involves a groundworks and hard landscaping package at St Kenneth’s Primary School in East Kilbride.

This contract has a total duration of 27 weeks split into two phases; Phase 1 consists of groundworks including internal and external drainage, building substructure and ground and first floor slab construction. Work started on this phase at the end of September 2009 and is now successfully completed. Phase 2 will begin in March and consists of hard landscaping and finishes around the school.

The second award includes two work packages at Crawforddyke Primary School in Carluke. Work began on site in November 2009 and overall completion is expected in June 2010.

This contract involves an enabling works package and also a substructure/hard landscaping package. The enabling works package includes muckshift, capping, adoptable drainage tie-ins and a retention tank.

The second package is similar to St Kenneth’s; involving internal and external drainage, substructure concrete works and ground and first floor slab construction.

The third award is an early enabling works package at High Mill and Victoria Park Schools in Carluke.

This contract involves the demolition and removal of sandstone walling, opening up a new junction at Market Street/Glamis Road, relocation of existing street lighting and the rebuilding a section of wall to secure the school perimeter.

A new entrance barrier system for access to the site will be installed and the existing school play area will be dismantled and re-erected within the new site boundary.

As all the new schools are being constructed in very close proximity to the existing occupied schools, the sites must adhere to strictly enforced delivery and access restrictions whilst minimising any disruption to the local residents and school communities.

Raynesway Construction looks forward to the successful completion of these projects and to providing continued assistance to a valued client, Bovis Lend Lease, in their delivery of the overall Schools Modernisation Programme.
